A Berry Good Time

Where to begin? The last week has been super busy, but so much fun too. Lee and I had the fantastic opportunity to take in three Savannah Music Festival shows and my ears are still happy from all that great jazz. But after three nights of babysitters, it was nice to spend the weekend with our girl.

Saturday was a gorgeous day and the perfect weather for the annual Strawberry Festival at Ottawa Farms in Bloomingdale. The ripe, red berries are the main attraction, but there were plenty of other activities too. The highlight for me was watching Camille enjoy her very first pony ride!

First Pony RideUntil now, she's shown a lot of interest in horses but has been too timid to ride one. But on this day, there was no hesitation as she settled into the saddle and told her pony, Star, to "Giddy-up!" I cannot tell you how it warmed my heart to see this scene. I never want to push my own interests on her, but I couldn't help but melt at the sight of her on that pony, pigtails bouncing with its gait, a smile across her face.

Then, she and Elsie picked a bucketful of berries together.

Pickin' BerriesBerry BuddyThey look so big, especially once I looked back at my photos from last year's strawberry festival. What babies they were!

Last Year's FestivalAfter berry-picking, the girls enjoyed a little train ride through the festival grounds before bouncing themselves silly in a bounce house. Here's a video of some of the highlights:

It had already been a great day, and it wasn't even half over. We left the festival and met up with good friends we hadn't seen in quite some time. More on that tomorrow!

The girls have gotten so grown-up. You don't realize it so much until comparing the pics from last year and now. Wow! Gone is the little baby face and the uncertain gate.
They're growing up...exciting for them and sad for us mommies.

That looks like so much fun! And I'm super jealous because strawberry season isn't until June-July in these parts.
